President, InSPA

President Message

Hearty Welcome to the Members of InSPA Family!

It gives me an immense pleasure to welcome all the members to create a true family of psychologists to strengthen our InSPA with highest commitment towards services to the children of the country, in particular and global in general. My journey started with the professional activities of Indian Academy of Applied Psychology (IAAP) way back in 1991 and I attended IAAP conference at JNV University, Jodhpur in 1993. In the same continued spirit, our First InSPA Annual Conference was organized at the same University in 2011.

Prof. B. Mukhopadhyay is the person who sowed the seed for School Psychology in India through me in 2009. As per his aspirations, I planted and nurtured InSPA to this level with the guidance and support of Prof. G.P. Thakur, First President of InSPA and Prof. B. Mukhopadhyay, outgoing President of InSPA. They are our mentors in several respects to develop this Association. We have just completed a very meaningful and successful Decennial journey (2009-2019). As of now, we are passing through a very tumultuous phase with the challenging demands created by the pandemic COVID19. At this juncture, we the members of InSPA will continue our dedicated service to the society and especially, the children, our hope and future!!

We are pleased to announce our ongoing collaborations with esteemed organizations such as the APA, ISPA, NASP, and APSPA for a range of academic endeavours that will enhance positive outcomes in the years to come. During our last three-year term, we are committed to fostering stronger connections between our members and the school community. To this end, our action plan (2023-2026) serves as a valuable resource, not only for our members but also for educators, school psychologists in particular and psychologists in general, and policy makers seeking guidance in their respective fields. Our approach is driven by a professional and inclusive tone, and we look forward to further advancing our shared goals together.

We welcome constructive suggestions from the members for future initiatives.

Indian School Psychology Association

In India, academic psychology is predominantly dominated by the Western concepts and principles. The psychology graduates are mostly getting training on educational and clinical psychology. School Psychology is a new area to study and conduct research based on International models. The competency requires both knowledge and skills in a particular domain. To provide a platform to Indian Psychologists/ School Educationists, a six member team of psychologists met under the guidance of the renowned psychologist Prof. B. Mukhopadhyay and evolved the Indian School Psychology Association in 2009 to promote school psychology in India and abroad.
